The Lucky Clover
A Touch of Green
Last year my husband and I spent some time with our grandchildren romping through the clover…quite literally. We have a huge patch of the stuff intended to feed wildlife throughout the year. It can be beautiful at times with its puffy rolling tufts of rich green foliage.
Rare Finds
Those small heart shaped leaves in groups of three are fun to look at, and even more fun to search through. The search, of course, was for the rare and lucky four-leaf clover. As it turns out, there are five-leaf clovers out there, too.
All In On The Fun
The kids were thoroughly engaged in the hunt from the beginning. My husband Phil and I had just as much fun as they did finding lucky clovers of our own. Each discovery of a special clover by a grandchild was celebrated by the finder and bemoaned by each of the other siblings. It didn’t take them long to turn the fun into a fierce competition.
Paw Paw’s and Nana’s treasures found themselves forfeited. Those were added, ever so stealthily, to the collection of one grandchild or another each time the clover count was uneven. In this family everything is a competition.
